    Responsibilities

    GLOTECH, Inc. seeks a Design Engineer (Telecommunications) to join our team. This position requires an active Top-Secret clearance.

     

    This position is located in the Washington, DC Metro area.

     

    Job Description:

    • Creates Infrastructure Design Documents and reviews List of Materials
    • Writes exterior Data Infrastructure design
    • Writes interior Data Infrastructure design
    • Provides design specification support
    • Performs cost estimation
    • CAD/Revit drawing/model creation
    • Drawing/Model markup repair

    GLOTECH plans, designs, procures and installs complete classified and unclassified cabling systems for this client. This includes all facets of ANSI standard copper and fiber design, engineering, installation, termination, distribution, patching, and troubleshooting.

     

    We provide Information Technology Infrastructure Rehabilitation (ITIR) at overseas Diplomatic facilities, to support the continued successful operation of these critical facilities. The ITIR includes the replacement of the VOIP and Network cabling. Our work also includes activities in support of this replacement, such as construction of new telecommunications rooms, localized interior demolition and renovation of interior spaces in areas around the new telecom rooms, and modifications to the electrical and mechanical systems.

    Qualifications

    Qualification Requirements:

     

    • GED or High School Diploma and a minimum 5 years’ experience in the telecommunications structured cabling industry to include inside and outside plant pathways, cabling, components, testing, and design OR Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field with 2 - 4 years’ experience of the same.
    • Proven and demonstrated experience with writing structured cabling -  infrastructure design documents and reviewing List of Materials
    • Active Top-Secret clearance
    • Strong understanding of government telecommunications cabling, data network cabling, and service entry
    • Strong familiarity with government or institutional building design and construction, including understanding of typical building systems (i.e. HVAC, electrical, lighting, building controls, security, etc.) with the ability to read and understand architectural and trade drawings
    • Detailed, motivated, self-starter; must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Must pose and demonstrate basic understanding of TIA standards and NFPA Codes.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical communications field is preferred
    • Experience working with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) or Building Information Management (BIM) systems such as REVIT.
    • Manufacturer certifications a plus.
    • Prior field installation and testing experience a plus.
