    UHF/VHF Radio Systems - Technical Trainer

    GLOTECH, Inc. seeks a UHF/VHF Radio Systems - Technical Trainer to join our current team. This position requires an active and current Secret clearance.




    This position trains DOS Information Management Specialist (IMS), Information Management Technical Specialist (IMTS), locally engaged staff (LES) employees on a variety of radio systems both local (VHF and UHF) and long distance (High Frequency – HF).


    Specifically, the UHF/VHF Radio Systems - Technical Trainer will perform the following work responsibilities, on a regular basis: 

    1. Teaches courses.
    2. Sets up classroom and/or online training environments, which include setting up computers, virtual labs, instructional materials, and communicating with students in advance of the class.
    3. Exercises excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both oral and written, and presents state of the art training concepts and methodologies using Department of State delivery technology to students within the Department and other government agencies.
    4. Provides adult-oriented, technical training using training methods and behavior sciences associated with adult education instruction.
    5. Attends special seminars and training, to gather information for exercise and curriculum development and presentations.
    6. Consults with customers, analyzes requirements, and develops, revises, and/or adapts instruction materials to meet the functional needs of DOS employees.
    7. Updates curricula and courseware for courses as required to meet industry and DOS standards.
    8. Designs and participates in workshops, seminars, and review sessions both in person and online.
    9. Serves as The Lead Instructor in the development and revision of training, choosing the most appropriate COTS course material.
    10. Designs online and classroom seminars and workshops to meet the needs of specialized users as needed.
    11. Provides one-on-one tutoring and review sessions for students from time-to-time to augment classroom and online training, to include responding to student questions submitted after classes have concluded.

    Qualification Requirements:

    • 5+ years of professional working experience and knowledge of engineering, standard installation practices, operation and maintenance procedures for radio systems to include:
    • Programming and maintaining VHF/UHF Repeaters: Motorola GTR-8000, Quantar T5300 and Tait repeaters.
    • Installation, tuning, and maintaining of radio duplexer equipment.
    • Programming and knowledge of High Frequency (HF) radio equipment such as the Codan Envoy.
    • Identifying and resolving network switching, routing and real time communications Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP) problems. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is desired, but not required.
    • Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) certification is required within 90 days of starting work.
    • Must be able to travel to domestic and overseas locations to conduct training.
    • Must possess a current and active Secret government security clearance.

    Desired Qualifications:


    • Experience with line of sight (LOS) radio networks as well as long distance HF.
    • Knowledge of radio spectrum allocation and propagation properties.
    • Experience with antennas, RF cabling, fiber optic cabling, and connector termination.
